Sujeily Fonseca-Gonzalez
Sujeily Fonseca-Gonzalez is a Puerto Rican engineer, leader, and advocate for innovation and inclusion. With a background in Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Practice and Professional Ethics, she has worked on research projects spanning video game development, education, pattern recognition, sub-surface object detection, remote sensing, radar systems, embedded systems, and medical devices. Her contributions have led to multiple authored and co-authored research publications, articles, and patents in these fields.
At IBM, Sujeily has held various technical leadership and development roles in Automation, Full-Stack Development, DevOps, Cloud, and Testing. She currently serves as a Software Engineering Manager, Technical Program Manager, and Technical Leader for the IBM MultiCloud SaaS Platform, where she leads high-performing engineering teams.
Beyond her technical expertise, Sujeily is deeply committed to empowering professionals and fostering diversity and inclusion. She is a Board Member and Co-Chair of the IBM Open Innovation local chapter (Carolinas Technical Experts Council) and serves as the Software Track Leader for the IBM Accelerate Summer Program, mentoring students in frontend and backend development.
Her advocacy for diversity in technology is reflected in her leadership roles as a Board Member of the Familia Executive Council (FEC) and Co-Chair of Strategic Partnerships for We Are All Human (WAAH), the Hispanic Technology Executive Council (HITEC), and the RTP Familia BRG.
Sujeily is a sought-after speaker, having delivered talks at universities such as the University of Puerto Rico – Mayagüez, NC State University, and Duke University, as well as at external conferences, including Great Minds in STEM. She has also spoken at IBM conferences, such as the Carolinas TEC Fall Symposium, Technical Vitality Series, and BRG Conferences. Additionally, she has taught summer courses to hundreds of frontend and backend developers across the United States and serves as a mentor and coach for professionals navigating their careers in tech.
